Learning about Singapore Navy is so much fun at this museum! Spanning a total of 3 floors, the entrance of the museum is like the start of a navy journey, where we step back to historical navy events as far as before Singapore gained independence in 1965, learning about the history and development of the navy throughout the years. It is my country's pride seeing how the navy has developed and nurtured talents throughout the years, with several stories about maritime threats and our navy's response all pinned throughout the exhibition floor. Each story that was narrated allow me to gain a deeper understanding of how the navy protects our waters while we citizens lead a peaceful life that is not to be taken for granted. It allows me to greater appreciate the efforts, dedication, responsibility and sacrifices made by our men and women in safeguarding our waters 24/7! Thanks to the Defence Collective Festival held during the mid November weekends, I have the opportunity to visit this themed museum, stepping into the perspective of our navy men and women to understand more about their life on the island and at sea, as well as experiencing some of their tough trainings through game replicas that test our vision, hearing, decision making process, interpretation, performance all through time constraints and a tough environment! It was an experience that I will never forget, all the fun I had playing the games, diving deeper into the exhibits, making a ship that floats on the water, adapting to the "simulated sea environment" etc. One thing that I will like to specially mention about this museum is the user experience. It is not complicated to navigate a three storey exhibition area, more so with the floor design resembling the sea and several areas resembling the ship cabins making me love the museum. Hence, it took me quite some time (about an hour) to explore the three storey exhibition area. Although its location is definitely not ideal for general visitors to pop by the navy displays, it is worthwhile for the general public to participate in events and exhibitions organised by the navy museum, since these are the best time for more convenient access to the museum using the complimentary shuttle buses provided throughout the event. For general visits, free shuttle buses are available during the weekends and public holidays, while public transport (svc 35) is available on weekdays for more convenient access.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

A tour guide who brings groups regularly says it 'never fails to impress,' praising exhibits that are 'thoughtfully curated' and staff who are 'knowledgeable and welcoming.' One parent brought an 18-month-old who 'enjoyed her time as well,' and another described the game replicas as 'an experience I will never forget.'

β€œAs a tour guide, I’ve had the pleasure of bringing groups to the Navy Museum many times, and it never fails to impress. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering a fascinating journey through naval historyβ€”from historic ships and artifacts to interactive displays that engage visitors of all ages. The museum staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, always ready to answer questions or share additional insights that enrich the experience. The layout is easy to navigate, making it suitable for both large groups and individual visitors. Highlights include the detailed ship models and immersive multimedia presentations that really bring maritime stories to life. For families, students, or history enthusiasts, the Navy Museum is a must-visit destination. It’s not just a collection of artifactsβ€”it’s a living classroom that connects people to the courage, innovation, and heritage of naval service. I highly recommend adding it to your itinerary.”

β€œThe navy museum was much more sleek and polished than the air force one. A much more adult vibe, though the activities were fun as well. Enjoyed dancing with robo around. He's a smart one, didn't got confused either. A little long winded though, one reason people can't follow along with him, is his narration takes too long. Liked the addition of a trading corner at the end, and the little gift shop at the end with interesting books. A little out of the way, but the provided shuttle bus was exceptionally comfy. Woodlands Transport is great! And the driver uncle was nice, maybe engage again in future.”

β€œIt was really good experience at the Singapore Navy Museum. Peaceful, informative with a range of interactive installations. 3rd floor has play area for kids and toddlers. My 18 months enjoyed her time as well. Gentleman at the reception was really helpful. There are free shuttles as well to and fro from Expo MRT. Overall, it can be great for a 2 hour family outing.”
