1 / 2Yishun River Green Playground
📍 Singapore, North
Distinctive artistic climbing structures and butterfly mini-gardens in a spacious open setting. Designed for physical challenge — best for older, active children. Minimal shade and no seating for parents.
Such a cool piece of art and ofcourse functional for the kids.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best matched to families with active kids aged six and up who enjoy climbing and are happy to move through the structures independently. Bring water, snacks, and sun protection — the site has no facilities. Families with toddlers or those wanting a shaded rest will find this frustrating.

“The wonky house playground is under maintenance. There's another small playground behind.”

“the playground is spacious with deliberate butterfly mini gardens and big space play grounds. 3 stars taken off as follows. 1 star taken off due to no sitting place and side shelters for shade for families to sit around while the children play. mini butterfly gardens can be bigger and with 40% shade for visitors too see and have more nature in the play grounds for the children and their families. 1 star taken off as the slide is metal or aluminium and not plastic. most of the children can't even slide at all. no watering point for drinking and no washing point for kids and adults to keep hygiene and clean themselves after play. HFMD can linger in these playgrounds 1 star taken off as the play ground is big but not much to play. there should be also at least 30% to 40% shade to cover the playground so the children can at least play during sunny days. the shades can have solar panels installed to generate electricity to power the fans to ventilate the playground and give some back to the utilities. a good attempt by the town council but seems like can be a lot of room for improvement.”

Overview
Yishun River Green Playground centres on sculptural climbing frames and deliberate butterfly gardens. The equipment skews toward physical challenge and visual impact rather than toddler-friendly variety. There is no shade and no seating for supervising adults, making extended visits uncomfortable in the heat. A smaller secondary playground sits behind the main one and serves as a useful backup when primary equipment is under maintenance. No washing facilities on site.
