1 / 3Forest Discovery Centre (Atbara)
π Tanglin, Central
The Forest Discovery Centre at Atbara is a free educational attraction housed in a beautifully preserved heritage building within the Gallop Extension of Singapore Botanic Gardens.
A Serene Walk with a Partial Visit This was my first time visiting the Forest Discovery Centre @ Atbara, and the journey there is a major part of the experience. The walk from the main Botanic Gardens area is incredibly calming and relaxing, winding through lush greenery that makes you feel completely removed from the city. As for the centre itself, it's important to note that during my visit, only the upper floor exhibit was open to the public. The exhibits on display were interesting and informative, focusing on the ecology of Singapore's forests, but I was a little disappointed not to see the full facility. Despite this, the combination of the peaceful walk and the educational elements made for a pleasant trip. I'd still recommend it for a tranquil stroll and a quick learning stop, but you may want to check if all the exhibits have reopened before making a special trip.
π Family Action Verdict
A peaceful educational stop that rewards families with a curiosity for nature and Singapore's conservation story. The heritage building and lush surroundings create a genuinely calming atmosphere, and the walk through the Botanic Gardens to reach it is enjoyable in its own right.

βI have visited Botanic Gardens several times but have not visited Forest Discovery Centre until recently. This centre is nestled within the Gallop Extension of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and it offers visitors a captivating journey into Singaporeβs tropical forest ecosystem. In fact, this educational zone showcases the nationβs native forest habitats through immersive trails, interpretive displays, and a diverse collection of flora. Overall, visitors can explore how the forests evolve, in parallel understand their vital ecological roles, and more importantly appreciate the countryβs conservation efforts. The centre also connects seamlessly anyone who is eager to reconnect with the natural world amid the cityβs greenery. It was quiet and peaceful as I visited this beautiful centre on a weekday. I spent approximately 1hr exploring the area and surprisingly I captured quite a few lovely shots.β
