1 / 2THERIS - Therapeutic & Educational Riding in Singapore
đ Sungei Kadut, Central
THERIS at Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre provides individualised therapeutic riding and equine-assisted therapy for children with autism, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and developmental disorders. Sessions are by appointment.
I went through a difficult time and had equine-assisted therapy sessions with Shiq and co-therapist horse Annie, instead of traditional talk therapy/counselling. The sessions helped me gain insight and awareness of my own feelings, be anchored in the present (not difficult at all when Annie was busy grazing on yummy grass, rolling on the ground, or pooping), and feel comforted and held. Shiq was gentle, warm, and skilfully drew my attention to Annie's responses at opportune moments, deepening my awareness of changes in my own internal state. I'm grateful for this safe space that was a key support through immense grief. Would recommend equine-assisted therapy to adults struggling with difficult emotions - there is something healing about the wordless presence and bond with an animal that cannot be replicated in human relationships.
đ Family Action Verdict
We have been with THERIS for about two years â it's a wonderful journey for my son and our family. The therapists are very nice, understanding, knowledgeable, and patient. My son is always excited about his session and comes back satisfied.

âI was able to volunteer at Theris during the Christmas holiday and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Everyone there is so professional and very kind and helpful. The therapists are really skilled and really know how to connect with the clients and say just the right things. The horses are so sweet and it's incredible to watch them connect with the clients. It was amazing to see the child clients learn so much and develop in their relationships with the horses, therapist, and themselves. It feels like a home away from home. I learned so much while volunteering here and I really hope to be able to come back soon.â

âI had the great pleasure of volunteering at theris for around 4 months; here's my highlights roundup: - super friendly and inclusive vibe; everyone is willing to teach everyone else, and it makes you decidedly unafraid to try - the horses, their unique personalities, and their uncanny ability to sense people's vibes - seeing clients progress massively in just 4 short months - morning sunlight filtering through the forest canopy a huge shoutout to Jessie, Ameerah and Lava for making the experience so educational, fulfilling and enjoyable :-)â

âTheris is a hidden gem! They have a lovely stable with well-mannered horses, and therapists like Teacher Shiq have been professional and helpful. My child has not only benefited greatly from his sessions, but has also grown to love animals. Thank you, Teacher Shiq and team!â
