I came across moonchild when I walked past it to another restaurant. It has good vibes and has an outdoor area for pawrents to bring their furkid. We sat at the outdoor area today and overall, we enjoyed ourselves very much. Brunch/lunch at weekends can be busy so our food took a while to arrive Pancake with chicken sausage and bacon - I love their pancakes! Soft, fluffy and tasty. After the first bite, I just want to have more. But their portion is huge and I thought the pancake can be shared between a couple. Dan Dan noodles is a highlight I feel. Very unique taste and the flavour combination with the pasta noodles hit the right spot for our taste bud. U can taste the mala and yet not too crazy spicy. Awesome Coffee was ok and service level is acceptable considering they are almost full on Sunday lunch.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with pets wanting a relaxed outdoor seat and creative food. The outdoor pet-friendly area is the clearest differentiator. Families expecting warm hospitality or straightforward value-for-money will find the cold service and above-average prices a recurring friction — the food quality is genuine, the service experience is not.

Food here is fantastic. Flavorful, well prepared, each ingredient on the plate serves a great purpose and it all comes together perfectly. Coffee was alright, simple and straightforward blend. The only downside I guess was the service. It wasn’t too packed actually but they all seemed in a rush, cold and unwilling to engage in conversation. Maybe it’s the vibe they wanna create or their preferred style of service. Anyways food is great and if you don’t sweat the cold service staffs, it’s still worth the visit.

Overpriced for the food standard and service. Coffee was so acidic it tasted sour. Tater tots with honey, the dip that came with it's like sour cream, the combi was just weird. Chilli sauce saved day. Beef Don's beef, some portions were hard to chew but rice was good. Nicest was the brussel sprouts but would be better if there's more sauce. Potato Stack Smoked Salmon Poached Eggs was unique, worth a try. Unfriendly staff who appeared disinterested to serve. Pretty chill ambience with high ceiling. Hard to find parking, nearest should be parallel public parking at Sturdee Road.

The cereal prawn pasta is ok only, pasta is overcooked. On the other hand, the scallops rose mafaldine is better. Pasta is cooked well done and chewy, the sauce paired nicely with the pasta too. Potato stack also not too bad, the smoke salmon portion is generous. I quite like the coconut water with matcha foam too, but the matcha is not very strong.

Overview

Moonchild sits on Jalan Besar and runs a menu of comfort food with deliberate, complementary ingredients — reviewers single out the scallop rose mafaldine and brussels sprouts. Coffee is sourced from Sinister Coffee Roasters. Natural wine selection available. The outdoor area accommodates pets. Weekend brunch runs busy, extending food wait times. Service has drawn consistent criticism — staff are described as rushed and cold even during quiet periods.
