Acres Wildlife Rescue Centre
π Western Water Catchment, Central
ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre is Singapore's leading wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organisation, operating from Jalan Lekar in the Western Water Catchment.
Iβve heard of Acres sometimes via the news but was not fully aware of the really meaningful work that they do in Singapore until tonight. We found a rather immobile looking bird lying on a dangerous part of the pavement very close to where the buses would pass. Another healthy and active bird was next to it and seemed like it was caring and being very protective of the friend! It was hard to know or see what kind of injury it could have been but the bird was lying at the same spot for close to 45 mins since we found it. We called Acres who was able to quickly activate their volunteer network and Ariff came immediately to look at the bird and to help with the situation. Overall, I was really touched with the entire experience. The fast response time from Acres, the willingness to help the pigeon and to see if it would be necessary to nurse it back to health. I think Singaporeβs wildlife is in a slightly better state because of the existence of Acres. They are some of the true unsung heroes in our society working on these things that may seem insignificant but are truly impactful. They deserve all of our support and recognition.
π Family Action Verdict
A meaningful and eye-opening visit for families with children who are curious about wildlife and conservation. This is a working rescue centre, not an exhibit β the value lies in understanding how wildlife rescue actually operates and why it matters.

βWe discovered the presence of Acres Wildlife Rescue a decade ago when we rescued a bird on a pavement. The bird was concussed. We did not know how to handle the bird and was guided by Acres (place in safe box with holes) Fast forward today, Acres has a whatsapp hotline. When we encounter situations, such as appearance of monkeys in our estate, Acres guided and educated us on what to do. It is not always necessary to "remove" the animals. We learn to let them take its nature's course. Last Sunday, our friend rescued a bat with injured wings. We informed Acres via whatsapp and they educated us on what to do. The bat was already secured in a carrier hence Acres advised that we can either send the bat in to their premises or arrange for Lalamove (expense paid bu rescuer). So I drove and sent the injured bat to Acres, they promptly took over. God bless their good hearts π Acres operate on a tight resource. They have good resources to read via their Whatsapp catalog. We can support Acres as members of public and also learn to live with animals in harmony. They are part of our community and ecosystem. β€οΈβ

βWe had such a good insightful and explanation of the work done by ACRES this morning. We have such profound respect for the vets and staff and volunteers who follow their passion to save and return wildlife back to their natural habitats even when it means that they have to do an overseas shipment of animals back to their homeland :) a blessing just to watch them at work today and they will have our support in their advocacy on wild life protection. With limited time and resources they have a strict protocol which helps to prioritise their rescues so please donβt give them one star β just because they have to make a decision to decline a call for rescue if the animal seems able to fend for itself.β

Grateful for their repeated assurance that my mynah will be in good hands at their rehabilitation centre. Kudos to everyone there.β
